Scalar waves, also known as scalar fields or scalar energy, are theoretical electromagnetic waves that are often discussed in the realm of pseudoscience and fringe physics. They are not widely accepted or recognized in mainstream physics.

In traditional electromagnetic theory, such as Maxwell’s equations, electromagnetic waves consist of two components: an electric field and a magnetic field, which are perpendicular to each other and propagate perpendicular to their oscillations. These electromagnetic waves are called transverse waves because their oscillations occur perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation.

Scalar waves, on the other hand, are purported to be different. They are said to be longitudinal waves, meaning that the oscillations occur in the same direction as the wave’s propagation. This concept is controversial because it contradicts established principles of electromagnetic theory.

Scalar wave theories are often thought to be associated with various pseudoscientific claims and concepts, including free energy devices, healing machines, and exotic propulsion systems. However, due to they are not understood and recognized by the mainstream physics, there is no or very little empirical evidence to support the existence of scalar waves or their practical applications.
